Easter Egg Hunt

(Yes, I know I am 8 months behind....please bear with me and keep checking back!!)

We went to the annual egghunt at one of Lily's friends houses this year again. They outdid themselves if you can see in the photo - I can't believe how much effort they put into it for our little ones!

Lily and Grace made sure they had some goodies before the hunt. Never hunt on an empty stomach, I say.... plus I believe it keeps her from eating every single goodie as she finds an egg....

I did have to get on to her a couple of times - the "baby" eggs were easy to see in one area, which Lily seemed to think - Hey, these babies are slow, I can clean up over here!!
And I did have to tell her the ones on the trees had no prizes in them, so please leave them alone!!
She also made sure to give Michelle an egg for Baby Kate, who was too little this year to hunt eggs....I imagine she will give them all a run for their money in 2010 though!!

She ate a few goodies before I could slow her down, but not too bad!

Overall, both Grace and Lily seemed to do a good job and found a bucket full! Thankfully there was enough to share with Mommy and Daddy - whether she knew that or not. Some sharing of candy was done after the "hunter" had gone to bed...

Best in Show!

In early April, Grandma Jane saw an ad for a local Dog Show and we decided to have a "road trip" to Columbiana to see what it was like. Some people were the nicest, talked at length about their dogs, let Lily pat them, etc. and some were....well, straight out of that movie...

Lily had fun seeing some of the dogs do the agility tests and seeing dogs we had never heard of. This little brown dog looked like a teddy bear to Lily, so I wanted to get a pic of it.

She also really liked the fuzzy Bichons like Dewey (owned by my Aunt Betty, who Lily likes to see pictures of). It was cute to see them all together in one place, marching around like little marshmallow doggies.

Afterwards, we went to Cahaba Lily Park because it was such a beautiful day. I am trying to let Lily climb on stuff, even if it is hard for me to watch!

She met a little boy who declared she was his new best friend (for that hour, at least!) Its funny to watch little kids interact, even if they have never met before, they will play with anyone!

Grace's 3rd Birthday

In March we helped Grace celebrate her 3rd birthday. It was quite the blowout, the high point being Tinkerbell herself showing up and celebrating. She played on the playground equipment with Grace and friends, led some songs and dancing, and took pictures with the party attendees. Lily was very enamored of Tinkerbell and spent a lot of time following her and Grace around, but when picture time came, she would NOT sit with Tinkerbell unless I was in the photo as well! Didn't plan on that....
The Carneys also brought lots of games and bubbles for the kids to occupy themselves with. Lily's favorite is what I keep referring to as "jiggley ball" because I can't remember the actual name and that fake game from the Scrubs TV show keeps coming to mind whenever I try to remember the right name.... So Lily had a good time playing "jiggley ball" and managed to get a couple of points, without smacking herself in the head with any of the balls on a string!

Zoo tots again

Late in February, Lily had another zoo class with her friend Grace. They have been going for zoo classes since they were 6 months old, so it has been neat to see how they react at different times to the different animals.

Lily and Grace both seemed to like touching the baby alligator (or crocodile??). Lily really liked its little feet when the teacher showed her how soft they were on the bottom. I touched it too - very weird feeling!

Both girls touched this bright snake - it was hard to get a good picture of Lily as I sat behind her. I have thought before that maybe we switch seats and sit with each others' child so we can get good pictures of our own girls!

Consistent with past history, Lily likes to pet animals as far away from their faces as possible...not the best photo ops as she pets random furry rumps!
But as usual, she loves the zoo and the animals, I think we will try to keep going!

Happy Birthday Chris!

Yes, I am 4 months behind. Moving right along...
In February, I made some pound cake cupcakes to celebrate Chris's birthday. Lily wanted to help, so she did a great job handling the frosting tube and made some flowers for Daddy's cakes. She thought he needed to have some little cars as his "theme" too, since all her friends have theme-parties. Not sure if he has gotten to play with them since...
She also helped him blow out the candles to make his wish... He seemed to like her gift that she picked out all by herself - a new pair of sunglasses (Thank you Dollar General). As a girl with many pairs, she thought he should have some to wear over the top of his regular glasses.

Snowy Day - Sleepover Post #3!!

Imagine my luck at having a rare snow day the day we have sleepover company! Thanks to my Mom, I thought to ask Michelle to pack Grace some snow play clothes. We all got up and Chris cooked us pancakes for breakfast. I believe Grace and Lily each ate about 12 silver dollar pancakes. I asked Grace if she was going to go out in the snow, and her response repeatedly was "No, I don't think so." I finally convinced her that we would hold her if she didn't want to walk in it, but perhaps she would like to at least go outside with us. She relented....and stayed out there the longest!

It took a few minutes before they would venture off the deck, we spent some time making snowballs and throwing them around before we decided to go down the stairs.
Lily in her hat...
The slide was a good place to find snowball snow, and to push it around...

And the snowballs apparently love to swing, which I was not aware of.
I was glad that I had remembered to read The Snowy Day the night before, because they both loved making the toes in - toes out - tracks....
...and had fun dragging their feet through the snow across the neighbor's yard. It was fun to watch them play around and explore....though we were apparently in a carb-coma because none of us thought to make a snowman!! Oh well, a project for next time!
