So I have been anxiously awaiting the pony rides for a month now. My friend Kathy had set it up for us all to go and ride ponies at a lady's house and I just knew it was going to be the high point of the week. Unfortunately, Lily didn't seem to get the memo.

I had to settle for a picture of Lily with pony in the background. I believe that is BlackJack. I did get her to touch a pony with one finger. I put her in the saddle on Baby, a tiny pony the size of a Great Dane, but she sobbed and cried "UP!! UP!!" so if she has horse trauma as an adult, we will know why.

I think the fun part for her was chasing a puppy around, until it was stationary and she could wave hello to it. She kept telling him "come on, puppy!" and waving her hand at him, trying to get him to follow her. He ignored her until she had a Nutter Butter in her hand, that seemed to make him more inclined to follow.

So she and Grace played with rocks and sat in lawn chairs and watched the other kids ride. They seemed to have fun, but it was not the magical childhood pony ride that I had hoped for. Maybe next year.
Check out the Carney's blog too, they had good pictures from the pony ride of the girls in their chairs spectating.....

I love this post - it reminds me of both times we've taken Philip to the zoo and all he wants to do is climb and sit on the benches....
