So, in hindsight, I think this is a common problem, but I never saw it coming. I told Lily today at lunch that we were going to vote today, and she needed to be a good girl. She got very excited and assured me she would. I thought it was pretty neat that she could tell how important I thought voting was, and that she was excited with me. Until we got to the polling place. And she asked "What we doin' Mommy?" and I told her we were here to vote.
"Where the boat Mommy?" Uh-oh.
"Not Boat, Lily, V-V-Vote."
"I drive the boat, Mommy? I don't see it!"
"No, Lily we are Voting. Voting for the President today."
"Then we drive the Boat?"
(sigh...)
Oh well. I had to crack up when I heard a lady coming up as we were leaving, explaining "there is no boat, Tommy!" to her 4 year old....

Maybe if they had a boat to drive even more people would show up...something to think about!
